While it’s hard to believe we are in August already, it can be harder to believe all of the numerous health products and supplements that are out on the market. It should come as no surprise that it is, truly, a multibillion dollar industry. Today, I am excited to share with you my “Fit5” of favorite health products & supplementation. This is, of course, a non-exhaustive list, and there are a LOT more I take throughout the course of my day. In fact, there are a LOT more on the market you will hear health and fitness professionals tout, but I feel these are a great place to start if you are interested in adding to your daily nutrition and supplement routine.
I would be remiss if I did not preface that I am not a doctor, nutritionist, or dietician. I am, however, a certified Health Coach with two different certifications in the arena. What I share is based on my own research, what has worked well for me (which may not necessarily work for you), the work I have done with my holistic doctor and, of course, trial and error.
#1: Ancient Nutrition Collagen Protein Powder
Adding a good quality source of collagen provides a host of benefits that are a definite must in anyone’s nutrition regime. Again, while this is just my personal opinion, collagen is one of those proteins we tend to not get enough of in our diets and one that is so important!
Key Ingredients
- Hydrolyzed Bovine Hide Collagen Peptides
-
- Fermented Eggshell Membrane Collagen – clinically studied, providing ten (10) different types of collagen, all while supporting gut health, skin health, and joints
- Chicken Bone Broth Protein Concentration
-
- SBO (Soil Based Organism) Probiotics – clinically studied, this supports a healthy gut and gut flora as well as the digestive system
- Hydrolyzed Fish Collagen Peptides
- Vitamin C – clinically studied, this powerful antioxidant packs 100% of your daily recommended value
What it Supports
- Hair, skin (hello reduction in crow’s feet), and nails
- Joint support
- Healthy immune system
- Weight management
Flavors: There are 6 different options but I prefer the unflavored for my coffee and chocolate for my smoothies!
Travel Option: Don’t want to be away from your collagen when you are on the road? While you can, certainly, portion out into a container or bag(s), they have single packet options which are fantastic to throw in your purse, gym bag, or travel bag!
How to Use: While there are many different ways you can use, the most common is to mix/shake in 8 oz of water, milk or dairy substitute; add to your coffee or tea; blend in your favorite smoothie; bake with it too!

#2: Papa Steve’s No Junk Raw Protein Bars
There are so many protein bar options on the market, and so many that are filled with added sugars, ingredients you cannot pronounce, and, ultimately, leave you feeling unsatisfied. While homemade protein bars are always going to be your best option, these “No Junk Protein Bars” are your next best option. And, trust me, you will be left satisfied, energized, and doing a world of good for your body!
Ingredients
- All bars are non-GMO, gluten free, and soy free
- No refined sugar
- Handmade weekly with locally sourced ingredients
- Made with only organic ingredients – no junk!
- Each bar has up to 20 grams of raw whey or vegan protein

- Vegan Protein: 11 flavors (Apple Cinnamon Pecan, Vanilla Cashew Coconut, and Wild Blueberry Almond are my favorites)
- Whey Protein: 4 flavors (Peanut Butter Choco Chip and Peanut Butter Crunch are my favorites)

- 1-2 month shelf life in a cool, dry place

#4: Probiotics (The Brand I Use is Klair Labs Ther-Biotic Complete)
Why It’s Important
- Help to improve gut and immune health
- Protects again unwanted microorganisms
- Nourishes the intestines
Just like most supplements on the market, there are so many probiotics to choose from. This can, definitely, feel overwhelming! One of the reasons I really like “Ther-Biotic Complete” is the 12 different probiotic species it encompasses, in addition to the 25 Billion CFU and its comprehensive microbiome support. It is also hypoallergenic, which is a huge plus too!
When I Use: I take 1 capsule at night before bed.
